A wave of innovative flavours from the East is sweeping across the US hot dog industry. One notable trend is Japadog, a popular Japanese food that has been gaining popularity worldwide. Japadog is essentially a sandwich that combines fried noodles, known as yakisoba, with a filling of crispy wheat noodles, nestled between a soft oblong white bread roll called koppe-pan, similar to an American hot dog bun.

By the 1950s, Japadog was already a staple in Tokyo department stores and soon spread to become a national phenomenon. Today, yakisoba-pan can be found in convenience stores and bakeries not only in Japan but also in select locations abroad, enticing hot dog enthusiasts to try this unique twist on the classic frank.
